Painted Desert Dino, Holbrook, Arizona, 2015
“I often find inspiration along America’s legendary highways. I pass by so many places on Route 66—abandoned diners, old motels. There’s always something worth photographing.”
“While on the road to Las Vegas, near Holbrook, Arizona, I had passed by this old Route 66 rock shop on numerous occasions. On this day, the clouds to the south just seemed to perfectly accent the image, so I stopped and got out my Linhof Technorama Panoramic camera loaded with Efke IR820 film and a Red 89B filter to take a shot.”
“I’d photographed that roadside dinosaur countless times, waiting for the perfect moment—a dramatic cloud formation behind it. That day, the wind was howling at 30 mph, and the sky finally delivered.”
