Painted Desert, Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona, 2008
“On a return trip with my nephew from Joshua Tree National Park to Santa Fe, I saw a massive monsoon storm on the horizon near the Petrified Forest. I figured if it didn’t overtake us and we still got light, I know the perfect place to stop for a shot.”
“From an overlook in the Petrified Forest, I positioned my new GX6x17 Fuji Panoramic camera loaded with infrared film to get the vast horizon and large sky. This photo was later printed as a 4-foot-by-12-foot triptych for a New York gallery and quickly became a best-seller and a personal favorite, marking a turning point in my career as I transitioned from hand-stitched 35mm panoramas to true panoramic format.”
