Bicycle, Warm Springs, Nevada, 2015
“This image was made at an abandoned ranch while on assignment for the state of Nevada, documenting various water resources. There had evidently been a fire in the main house of the ranch, and, in an effort to save the belongings, many of them had been thrown out of the house.”
“Over the years, the grass had grown up around these objects. This bicycle naturally caught my eye for this reason. With the grass and all the palm fronds lying there, the bike looked like it was moving. It is a favorite image of mine because of how it differs from many of the other photos in my ‘Western Abandon’ series. A large 40 x 50” version hangs in a restaurant here in Santa Fe.”
